Dedication to a Delicious Woman
In her eighties she is still as feisty as ever, and I love her for that. Although she is an older woman in the golden years of her life, she still lets you know “I am here, and I am one to be seen and heard!” Thanks, Gran, for all the love you’ve shown over the years and for showing me how to be a strong and sassy woman! I took some special time to sit down with my grandmother to get some insight and wisdom about what it really means to be a woman. I knew before this moment that my grandma would tell it like it is, simply because she was and is a woman who always speaks her truth. Women of her time didn’t sugarcoat anything; they spoke what was on their minds and if you didn’t like it, it was going to be said anyway. I always loved that about my grandma when I was a kid, because half the time she said something that was so true and real it was funny. Grandma and I always had good times filled with so much laughter. The interview began with me peeking through the windows of her soul, her eyes. I smiled at her, and she smiled back. I am deeply grateful to have her in my life and to have experienced the love only a grandmother can give.
